Illegal drinking water supply in facilities and residential houses in Binagadi district has been prevented

In accordance with the Action Plan for ensuring the efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan continues control measures to detect illegal use of drinking water, minimize water losses and prevent wastage.

During control measures, cases of illegal water supply were detected in Bilajari settlement, DSK road and flour products tandoor owned by one entrepreneur, "Ekonom" market, tire repair, non-ferrous metal reception, and animal storage points. Thus, the owner of these facilities used drinking water illegally by connecting to the nearby 1400 mm diameter transmission main without obtaining technical conditions or signing a contract. During the control measures, it became known that 13 courtyard houses located behind those facilities were arbitrarily connected to the transmission main.

 As the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, we once again bring to the attention of citizens that illegal and off-meter use of drinking water causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses, and deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas. In order to prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled, and law enforcement agencies will be contacted to take strict control measures against individuals and legal entities who commit these acts.

It should be noted that in the months of January-August 2023, 12,219 cases of illegal water supply were detected by the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency "Azersu" Open Joint-Stock Company, and 2,337 of them in the Binagadi region, more than 100 facts were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
