Cases of illegal drinking water supply were prevented in Absheron region

As a result of investigations conducted to detect illegal drinking water supply, minimize water losses and prevent wastage in Absheron region, cases of unaccounted and off-meter water lines were prevented in accordance with the Action Plan on ensuring the efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

It was determined that 6 courtyard houses built by people engaged in the construction of private residential houses in Masazir settlement have been using water illegally. Thus, those persons robbed the water by connecting to the water lines of other citizens living in the vicinity without obtaining technical conditions or signing a contract. Connections made to each courtyard house were canceled by the emergency brigade.

It was determined that the "Meyveli" fruit and vegetable sales point on Gachag Nabi Street, Masazir settlement, was using water illegally. The owner of the car wash, located at 34A Heydar Aliyev Avenue, Khirdalan city, used water illegally without obtaining technical condition and signing a contract. 

As the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, we once again bring to the attention of citizens that the illegal and off-meter use of drinking water causes the violation of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses, and the deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas. To prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled, and law enforcement agencies will be contacted to take strict control measures against individuals and legal entities who commit these acts.

It should be noted that in the months of January-June 2023, 8,899 cases of illegal water supply were detected by "Azersu" Open Joint-Stock Company, and 837 in Absheron region, and about 100 facts were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
