“Azersu” OJSC carries out Action plans for improvement of water supply and sewerage systems in Baku and surrounding areas. Construction of Jeyranbatan-Balakhani-Ramana-Zire-Pirallahi transmission main, one of the major projects carried out under “State Program on Socioeconomic Development of Baku and suburban settlements for 2011-2013” is continued successfully. Construction of Gala-Zira section of this transmission main was commenced.

The length of the section is 22,2km, and will be laid using iron pipes (DN 1020mm). 2,7km section of the pipeline was constructed and laid in the trench. The latest technology is used in the construction of the pipeline. The pipes are combined using an automatic welding machine, which accelerates the rate of welding by 4-5 times, and the welded parts of the pipes are checked by ultrasound machine and every weld seam is estimated. The inside of pipes that will be used in construction of water lines was painted with special paint for preventing the corrosion and keeping the qualification of drinking water.

Once Gala-Zire water line is connected to Jeyranbatan-Balakhani-Ramana-Gala transmission main Zire reservoir with the capacity of 10 thousand m3 will be supplied with water. At the next phase Zire-Pirallahi section of the transmission main will be constructed. About 45 thousand people in Zire, Pirallahi, Gurgan, and Turkan settlements, as well as Dubendi residential area will be supplied on continuing basis with drinking water after commissioning of the transmission main and reservoir. Presently there is no centralized drinking water system in these areas and people get water from wells or buy by water trucks.

Note that after commissioning of Jeyranbatan-Gala water line water supply system of totally 130 thousand people substantially improved. Once Jeyranbatan-Balakhani-Ramana-Zira-Pirallahi transmission main is put into operation the water supply systems of over 1 mln people in the Absheron Peninsula will be substantially improved.
