Water lines of 36,6km in Sumgait and surrounding settlements were replaced with new ones in order to improve water supply and sanitation systems of consumers. As result of reconstruction and capital rehabilitation works 23824 subscribers or 95 thousand people in 287 multistory buildings were supplied with drinking water on “24 hours a day” basis. Thus 80% or 213 thousand people in Sumgait supplied with drinking water on continuing basis. 21 Nos pumping station were eliminated due to transition to uninterrupted regime.

At the same time the sanitation systems of Sumgait are under reconstruction. After commissioning of new pumping station at the end of 2012 wastewater of “Kohne sheher” residential area is discharged to Sumgait Wastewater Treatment Plant, thus the capacity of the plant was increased to 42 thousand m3.

Once DN 1200-1600mm Novkhani-Sumgait collector of 9km is put into operation wastewater in 12 points located along the seaside from Novkhani settlement to Sumgait city will be discharged to this collector. Generally in the future treated wastewater will be discharged to Caspian Sea. Presently the capacity of the plant is 72 thousand m3 and is planned to be increased to 100 thousand m3.
