A meeting with delegation of World Bank was held in "Azersu" OJSC

    Representatives of World Bank visited Azerbaijan in order to become familiar with the implementation status of “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project” financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and World Bank (WB). On May 3 a meeting with the delegations was held in “Azersu” OJSC.

   Recalling long-term cooperation of Azersu” OJSC with World Bank chairman of the Company Gorkhmaz Huseynov highly evaluated the close participation of the bank in the implementation of social and infrastructure projects. He also noted that under “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project” water supply and sanitation systems of Gabala, Shamakhi, Saatli, and Sabirabad towns will be reconstructed.

    Expressing her satisfaction in cooperation with the Government of Azerbaijan World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan Ms. Larisa Leshchenko highly appreciated the works done on the project.

   The head of the World Bank delegation Manuel Marino organization he represents will support to the reconstruction projects of water supply and sewerage systems in the future too. He also said that proposals on additional funds for the project of the Government of Azerbaijan were submitted to the Board of Directors of the World Bank.

   At the meeting implementation of the project, application of latest technologies, financial issues of “National Water Supply and Sanitation Project” were discussed.

   Note that the project includes reconstruction of water supply systems in Gabala, Shamakhi, Saatli, and Sabirabad. The first phase on the project was completed in Shamakhi and Gabala towns. At the second phase sewerage systems of the towns will be reconstructed. In Saatli and Sabirabad the project will be commenced soon.

    After the implementation of the project water supply and sanitation systems of more over 100 thousand people in Gabala, Shamakhi, Saatli, and Sabirabad towns will be improved.
