Inauguration ceremony of water supply and sewerage systems compound in Naftalan was held.

   Implementation of “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Naftalan” launched under “Provincial Cities Water Supply and Sewerage project” that financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and Japan International Cooperation Agency. On March 6 inauguration ceremony of water supply and sewerage systems of Naftalan was held. At the ceremony the chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov, Head of Economic Cooperation Department of Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Azerbaijan Takao Imanishi, head of Naftalan region Executive power Natig Aslanov and citizens took place.

   The chairman of “Azesru” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov stated that works on water supply and sewerage infrastructures in the regions are reconstructed under “State Program on Socioeconomic Development of the regions of Azerbaijan for 2009-2013” approved by the President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that presently water and sewerage projects were implemented in 23 city center and 277 villages: “We start a new reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in the 24th city- Naftalan. Thus drinking water supply and sewerage services of 14 thousand people in Naftalan city, Gasimbeyli and Dashalti Garagoyunlu villages will be substantially improved. For providing quality implementation of the project the latest technology and equipments will be used. I hope that the construction works will be completed in time.”

   The head of Naftalan region Executive power Natig Aslanov noted that reconstruction of water supply and sewerage infrastructures of the city will play great role in socioeconomic life of the city.

   Head of Economic Cooperation Department of Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Azerbaijan Takao Imanishi highly evaluated the cooperation between his country and Azerbaijan and expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of the infrastructure projects.

   “Reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Naftalan” intends to develop water supply and sewerage services of totally 14 thousand people including 9800 people in Naftalan, 4200 people in Gasimbeyli and Dashalti Garagoyunlu villages. In accordance with the project Naftalan city and the villages surrounding t Naftalan city will be supplied with drinking water by Baliggaya-Goranboy transmission main. A transmission main of 5,9km (DN=315mm) will be laid from this source. 2Nos reservoirs with the capacity of 3000 m3 each will be built. At the same time chlorination and administrative building will be built. A sewerage line of 31km will be laid by polyethylene pipes (DN=200-800mm) and sewerage collector will be built for discharging of wastewater. In the future wastewater treatment plant is intended to be built. The construction works will be implemented by successful bidder “Chukurova Construction Industry and Trade Inc and Heating Systems” Joint Venture (Turkey and Azerbaijan). The works on the project will be completed in 2015.

   Note that, “Provincial Cities Water Supply and Sewerage Project” that financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and Japan International Cooperation Agency is aimed at reconstruct water supply and sewerage systems in 7 towns and district centers (Khachmaz, Yevlakh, Naftalan, Khizi, Gusar, Barda and Gobustan). Reconstruction projects are carried out in Gusar, Khachmaz and Khizi. After some months reconstruction project will be started in Gobustan.
