Saudi Fund for Development will allocate soft loan for reconstruction project of water supply and sewerage systems in Khirdalan

    On February 11-15, 2013 Azerbaijani delegation led by deputy chairman of “Azersu” OJSC for foreign investments Ilgar Tagiyev visited to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia in order to negotiate with Saudi Fund for Development on “Loan agreement project on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems in Khirdalan”.

   During the visit the delegation including the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijani Republic met with technical director Eng Mohammad S. Al-arifi and chief engineer Mohammad Aldraibi of Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) on Asia region. At the meetings negotiations on financing issues of the project carried out and opinion and suggestions on Loan agreement were discussed. The final version of the Loan agreement was prepared by SFD upon mutual agreement between the sides. A protocol was signed in Riyadh within negotiations about the “Loan agreement for financing the reconstruction and expansion of water supply and sewerage in Khirdalan city”. According to the protocol, the Saudi Fund will allocate $35 million for improvement of water supply of Khirdalan city.

In accordance with the project that will be launched in the second half of 2013 water supply and sewerage systems of Khirdalan will be reconstructed. Khirdalan city will be supplied with drinking water from Jeyranbatan Water Treatment Compound Plants. The water of Jeyranbatan Water Treatment Compound Plants will be transmitted to 3Nos reservoirs with the capacity of 20thousand m3 each – “+82 Masazir”, “+120 Masazir” and “+118Absheron” and from here will be conveyed to the city by gravity.

  In the frame of the project water network of totally 159km will be constructed in Khirdalan. The sewerage network of the city will be constructed after operation of new sewerage collector. Note that presently wastewater of the city is transmitted to Hovsan Aeration Station for treatment. In the future the wastewater of the city will be transmitted to water treatment plant with the capacity of 200thousand m3 in Lokbatan. For transmitting of wastewater to this plant by gravity a new collector of 7km is constructed in Khojasan. The construction works are planned to be completed in 2014. Water supply and sewerage systems of more over 100 thousand people will be improved after implementation of the project.
