A meeting with director of department of Asia Development Bank was held

Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov met with Klaus Gerhaeusser, director general of Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Chairman of Stock Company appreciated the close participation of the Asia Development Bank in the investment project carried out in Azerbaijan and spoke about the successfully implementation of the projects financed by the loan of the ADB- reconstruction projects of water supply and sewerage systems of Agdash, Goychay and Beylegan and emphasized that the cooperation with ADB will be continued in the future.

Klaus Gerhaeusser, director general of Central and West Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that it is his first visit to Azerbaijan and he is informed about the project that carried in Azerbaijan by “Azersu” OJSC: “Asia Development Bank is interested in allocating funds for infrastructure project in Azerbaijan. The specialists of the Bank have begun to prepare new strategy on Azerbaijan. In the strategy program that will continue 5 years (2013-2018) will include the terms of development concept of “Azerbaijan – 2020: view to the future”. Support to water supply sector will be reflected in the strategy program. Our Bank plans to help in application of know-how and training of personnel as a non-financial support to “Azersu” OJSC. We can organize the trainings of foreign specialists in Azerbaijan taking into consideration the rapid development of water supply sector.”

Recalling the instruction on “Azerbaijani people should be supplied on a continued basis with drinking water” of President Ilham Aliyev chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Gorkhmaz Huseynov said that drinking water and sewerage projects are about beginning in Agjabadi and Balakan towns. He also noted that the latest technology is used for implementation of the project financed by ADB as well as other international organizations.

Note that Azerbaijani Government carries out “Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project” and “Water supply and Sewerage Investment Programs” projects with ADB. Note that in the frame of “Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project” began in 2008, technical and organizational works were carried out as well as water intake intersections were created in Agdash and Goychay districts. “Water supply and Sewerage Investment Programs” plans reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems in Beylegan, Agjabadi and Balaken.
