Sustainable use of natural resources and expansion of the waste recycling process are defined as one of the main goals in the socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan within 2022-2026. Population growth, urban growth and industrial development lead to a continuous increase in the volume of wastewater. In addition to the purification and use of waste water in various fields on a global scale, the use of the sludge mass obtained from those waters is also important from an ecological point of view.

The invention No. C05F7/00 (2006.01) on the purchase of organic fertilizers from the sludge mass contained in waste water was approved by the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The invention discovered by the scientists and specialists from Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency "Azersu" OJSC, Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry named after Academician M. Nagiyev, Institute of Soil Science and Agro chemistry and Baku State University on "The method of obtaining organic fertilizer from activated sludge formed during the treatment of domestic waste water" is important in terms of protection of ecological stability and development in agriculture. The invention was developed by Dilgam Taghiyev, Aydin Abbasov, Zarema Jabbarova and Vugar Jafarov. One of the authors of the invention, the honored engineer Aydin Abbasov, is the head of the Central Engineering Technology Service of ADSEA "Azersu" OJSC.
