A conference held on "Reconstruction of water supply and sewage infrastructure in the Karabakh region"

The conference organized by the German-Azerbaijani Foreign Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan) on "Reconstruction of water and sewage infrastructure in the Karabakh region" was held on February 21, 2024 at the Four Seasons Hotel Baku. More than 100 high-ranking business and state representatives from Azerbaijan and Germany participated in the conference. The event was organized within the "Environmental Technologies Export Initiative" with support of the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Rights Protection (BMUV) of the Federal Republic of Germany.   

The main goal of the event was to bring together German and Azerbaijani companies interested in the field of water and wastewater management, as well as high-ranking representatives of relevant economic and political institutions, including experts in this field, to create an effective platform for active exchange of experience.

Tobias Baumann, executive member of the Board of Directors of AHK Azerbaijan, delivered the opening speech of the event and briefly presented the program of the meeting to the participants. Afterwards, the representative of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Akbar Asgarov, and the representative of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, Chingiz Abdullayev, briefly informed the participants about the current problems and solutions in Azerbaijan's water industry. Both speakers highlighted President Ilham Aliyev's declaration of 2024 as the "Year of Solidarity for the Green World".

The conference ended with panel discussions on solutions for efficient water supply and waste water treatment, an interactive seminar and bilateral business meetings where German and Azerbaijani companies discussed future cooperation opportunities.
