According to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev’s instructions, the implementation of the project of creating drinking and waste water systems in the territories liberated from occupation is being intensively continued. In order to ensure the implementation of the tasks arising from the Boyuk Gayidish (Great Return) Program, the drinking water supply of Khojaly city is being improved by the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan.

According to information provided by the Coordinating Headquarters established for the centralized solution of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a new water source is being created in order to improve the drinking water supply of the city of Khojaly. It was decided to dig 2 new sub-artesian wells, taking into account that the population and the demand for drinking water will increase in the city as a result of the implementation of the Boyuk Gayidish (Great Return) Program. One of the wells has already been put into operation, and the digging of the other well is ongoing. The new sub-artesian wells will provide the city of Khojaly with 24 hours of uninterrupted drinking water in the future. To supply drinking water to the city of Khojaly, the water taken from the source will be transferred to a reservoir with a volume of 500 cubic meters and will be distributed to the city from here.

Expansion of existing drinking and waste water networks is also being carried out in Khojaly city. Drinking and waste water lines are laid in order to ensure the connection of newly built private houses to the networks. It should be noted that there is a centralized distribution water network in a part of the city of Khojaly. The sewage network covers a small part of the city and is unusable. Currently, the city, as well as several villages and settlements of the region, are served by the Khojaly Sukanal Administration.
