Cases of illegal drinking water supply were detected in Absheron region

In accordance with the Action Plan for ensuring efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan continues control measures to detect illegal drinking water lines, minimize water losses and prevent wastage. As a result of control measures carried out in Absheron region, cases of illegal drinking water supply were discovered in some private houses and commercial facilities. A person engaged in the construction of individual residential houses in Hokmeli settlement gave an illegal connection to the nearby transmission main. Private houses were supplied with water through illegally laid water lines.

The State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan brings to the attention of citizens that illegal and off-meter drinking water line causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks, serious water losses, deterioration of water supply to other subscribers living in those areas. In order to prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily laid and off-meter lines will be canceled, and law enforcement agencies will be contacted to take strict control measures against individuals and legal entities who commit these acts.

It should be noted that in January-November 2023, 14,909 facts related to illegal drinking water supply were detected and prevented in Absheron region.
