Central and local reservoirs are washed and disinfected

The Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency continues comprehensive measures to improve drinking water supply to consumers and provide them with high-quality and stable drinking water. Drinking water reservoirs on the balance of the Agency are washed and disinfected at least once a year in accordance with approved guidelines.

According to the Action Plan of 2023, 987 reservoirs with a total volume of more than 790,000 cubic meters will be washed and cleansed in Baku city and the Absheron peninsula, as well as in the regions.

During operation, water samples are regularly taken from the reservoirs and analyzed in the Central Laboratory. If there are any deviations in the water content and if it is not possible to eliminate it, the reservoir is inspected again and washed in an extraordinary manner.

Water reservoirs that are not in the balance of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency and belong to housing cooperatives must be washed and cleansed at least once a year. Housing construction cooperatives are informed about this, and they are informed that it is necessary to wash and clean the reservoirs for the safety of the drinking water provided to the population.
