June 5 is the "Water Economy and Amelioration Employees’ Day"

June 5 - "Water Economy and Amelioration Employees’ Day" is a professional holiday. According to the decree signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on May 14, 2014, June 5 was established "Water Economy and Amelioration Employees’ Day" and every year this date is celebrated as a professional holiday of water industry employees.

On the day of water economy and amelioration employees, Zaur Mikayilov, Chairman of Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency and the staff of the Agency visited Alley of Honor to commemorate Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of our people, the architect and founder of our modern independent state, and laid a wreath in front of his grave. The prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Ms. Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated. Then, the heroic sons of the motherland, who died for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was commemorated in the Alley of Martyrs.

On the occasion of the "Water Economy and Amelioration Employees’ Day" the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan organized an exhibition of paintings and photos by young artists in the "Yasamal" Park on the theme of national leader Heydar Aliyev's concern for water industry. The exhibition featured works promoting the impact of climate change on water resources, water conservation and efficient use of water. The management of the Agency, which reviewed the exhibition, wished success to young artists.
