Measures to eliminate water losses and illegal water supply are being strengthened

Measures to eliminate water losses and illegal water use are being strengthened, in accordance with the Action Plan for ensuring the efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

According to the order of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency dated April 25, 2023, the Action Plan was approved to provide drinking water to consumers in Baku and Sumgait cities, as well as Absheron region and to detect and eliminate cases of uncontrolled water supply. "Azersu" OJSC prepared and approved an Action Plan for the purpose of prompt and quality execution of the affairs provided for in the Action Plan, elimination of illegal and uncontrolled connections to the drinking water supply system.

In order to reduce water losses and eliminate cases of illegal water supply, working groups have been established for each of the Sukanal administrations on the Absheron Peninsula. The working groups will directly monitor the elimination of defects, conduct analyzes related to the discovered facts and organize activities related to local executive authorities.

It is once again brought to the attention of the subscribers that the illegal and wasteful use of drinking water leads to the violation of hydraulic regimes in the networks, serious water losses and the deterioration of other residents’ water supply living in those areas. At the same time, the involvement of emergency teams in the elimination of cases of illegal water lines delays the prevention of water flows that have occurred in other areas, leads to loss of time and the creation of additional costs.
