As a result of investigations conducted in order to prevent water losses and wastage in accordance with the Action Plan on ensuring efficient use of water resources approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, cases of unaccounted and off-meter drinking water supply were discovered in the service area of Baghlar Sukanal Department.

In the village of Mohammadi, water was stolen by a cafe and a car wash. In the summer of 2022, the owner of the facility whose water supply was stopped due to illegal use of water reconnected his line from the network on his own.

During the inspection of the water supply system of the butcher’s owned by a private entrepreneur located on Aziz Aliyev Street, Mahammadi village, it was found that the water demand of the facility was provided by the owner from a line laid illegally from a nearby building.

Detected illegal lines were canceled and damages due to illegal use of drinking water were calculated. The owners of the facilities were informed about the legal connection to the water network and were told that the illegal and wasteful use of drinking water leads to the violation of hydraulic regimes in the networks, serious water losses and deterioration of the water supply of other residents living in those areas. At the same time, the involvement of emergency teams in the elimination of cases of illegal use of water delays the prevention of water flows that have occurred in other areas, leads to loss of time and the creation of additional costs.

It should be noted that in the months of January-February 2023, 1788 facts related to the illegal drinking water supply were detected by "Azersu" OJSC and 145 in Baghlar Sukanal Administration. In connection with the discovered facts, the consumption of 542 thousand cubic meters for "Azersu" OJSC and 39 thousand cubic meters for the Baghlar Sukanal Administration was restored.
