Illegal use of drinking water was revealed in Surakhani district

Measures to prevent water losses and waste are being taken,in accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the investigation of special groups established by “Azersu” OJSC to detect and eliminate cases of illegal use of drinking water, cases of unregistered and off-meter water use were revealed in Surakhani district.

While inspecting the drinking water and sewerage systems of the "Fiday" educational center operating on Ahmad Mehbaliyev Street in Garachukhur settlement of Surakhani district, it was found out that the facility was illegally connected to the communication systems. In other words, the owner of the facility illegally used water and sewage services without obtaining technical conditions and concluding a contract.

A large area was found to be irrigated illegally near Dada Gorgud settlement. As soon as the information was received, the employees of “Azersu” OJSC immediately inspected the area. It was found out that the fields were irrigated with 32 mm diameter pipes via the secretly laid water lines from the part of the 400 mm diameter transmission main passing through the reed area.

Illegal use was also prevented at the metal reception point operating in the region. In the past period, cases of illegal use of water in private houses in Hovsan, Surakhani and Zykh settlements were revealed. It was found out that the citizens were illegally connected to the nearby network lines with pipes of different diameters and there was off meter water use. Necessary measures have been taken on each revealed fact, unauthorized lines and connections was eliminated and damage caused by illegal use had been calculated in accordance with the requirements of the Rules of Water Use.

“Azersu” OJSC once again urges citizens and entrepreneurs to refrain from such actions and states that measures will be taken to prevent such violations, the lines drawn will be abolished and law enforcement agencies will be contacted about the perpetrators of such violations.

It should be noted that in January-February 2022, 1291 facts of illegal use of drinking water were revealed by “Azersu” OJSC. Consumption in these cases was restored in the amount of 344,000 cubic meters. Since the beginning of the year, 6,000 cubic meters of consumption had been restored as a result of 26 cases of illegal use in Surakhani district.
