A meeting with representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency held at “Azersu” OJSC

“Azersu” OJSC hosted a meeting with members of the Japan International Cooperation Agency's mission visiting Azerbaijan on October 25. Noting the successful socio-economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan, Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC Etibar Mammadov drew the attention to the implementation of the projects in the field of drinking water supply and the projects in drinking water supply and wastewater treatment that were completed in 5 cities. Work on 6 out of 9 contract packages to be implemented in Khachmaz, Gusar, Khizi, Gobustan, Naftalan intended within the “Small Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Project” has been completed, work on 3 contract package covering the construction of Khachmaz, Naftalan, Khizi, Altiagaj, Gobustan wastewater treatment plants  is underway.

Expressing pleasure from the cooperation with Azerbaijan Yumiko Horivaki, a leading specialist at JICA’s Central Asia and Caucasus Division spoke about her visit to water supply facilities in Gobustan and Khachmaz as part of the program.

It should be noted that the loan agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency was signed in 2009 and the projects were launched in 2012.
