Illegal use of drinking water was revealed in Khatai district

 In accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, control measures are being taken to prevent water losses and waste. To investigate cases of illegal use of water the investigation of special groups established by “Azersu” OJSC, revealed cases of unregistered and off-meter use of drinking water in Khatai district of Baku.

As a result of the control measures, it was disclosed that citizens and entrepreneurs illegally interfered with water supply systems and used water illegally. While inspecting the water supply systems of “Ughur Su”, located on Nazim Shukurov Street in Khatai district, it was found out that a 40 mm diameter pipe was illegally connected to the drinking water network. Here, water taken from the network was used as raw material and bottled water was produced. This is another fact that companies engaged in the sale of bottled water illegally use bottled water and sell it to the public.

 The next address where illegal water use was discovered was a restaurant on Naples Street. Instead of obtaining a technical condition and concluding a contract, the owner of the catering facility arbitrarily connected to the line in a nearby dormitory building. Illegal connection was also revealed at the car wash on Hasan Salmanov Street in Khatai district. At the same time, illegal use of water was prevented in some newly built private houses in Khatai district. The detected illegal connections were liquidated and the damage was calculated.

In the first 8 months of 2021, 11,646 facts of illegal use of water were revealed by “Azersu” OJSC and 92 in Khatai district. According to these cases, consumption was restored in the amount of 3,202,000 cubic meters, and in Khatai district - 26,000 cubic meters.

We once again urge population and entrepreneurs who use water illegally to refrain from such actions, and state that measures will be taken to prevent such violations. Damage caused by illegal use of water will be calculated and applied to law enforcement agencies. In total, 185 facts of illegal use have been submitted to law enforcement agencies since the beginning of the year.
