“Azersu” OJSC continues to implement projects to improve the supply of drinking water in rural areas, in accordance with the State Program on socio- economic development of the regions approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Centralized water supply systems are being established in Gizilburun and Garasu villages of Hajigabul region, which suffer from the drinking water scarcity, at the expenses of internal resources.

The population of Gizilburun village of Hajigabul region has been suffering from lack of drinking water for many years. In the past, part of the village was supplied water from Kura- Baku transmission main. However, due to the lack of a centralized water supply system, residents had to use individually laid lines. It was not possible to use water normally through lines that did not meet construction requirements and technical norms, and in some cases passed through several yards. In some cases, residents had to buy drinking water by trucks.

The lack of a centralized distribution network in the village of Garasu, which is fed by the Kura- Baku transmission main, and the deterioration of individual lines created serious difficulties in the village’s water supply.

Taking into account all this, “Azersu” OJSC implements drinking water projects in Gizilburun and Garasu provinces. To reconstruct the existing water supply system in Gizilburun village, 3 km of transmission main was laid from the Kura- Baku water pipeline, 13 km of water distribution network was built and about 250 addresses were connected to the network. At the next stage, each subscriber will be provided with a meter.

According to the project implemented in Garasu village, it is planned to build 3 km of transmission main and 27 km of water distribution network in the village. Meters will be installed by connecting 470 addresses from the newly created network.

Due to these projects, more than 4000 residents of Garasu and Gizilburun provinces will provided with sustainable and quality drinking water.
