As a result of control measures taken to prevent water losses and wastage in accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 on ensuring efficient use of water resources" approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, cases of unaccounted and unmetered water use were detected in Balakhani settlement of Sabunchu district.

It was discovered that water had been stolen from a pastry shop, a car wash and a market on Sadıgjan Street in Balakhani settlement. It turned out that although these objects have got meters, illegal lines were used. The owner of the restaurant located on Samad Masud Street of the town connected to the network without technical conditions and without a contract and illegally used water. The water supply to the facilities was immediately stopped and an act was drawn up and the damage was calculated. In addition, although each of the 5 individual residential houses built by the realtor on Hasan Aliyev Street have been supplied with drinking water, it was revealed that they use water without accounting. Illegal and wasteful use of drinking water causes disruption of hydraulic regimes in networks and serious water losses. Such situations cause serious problems in supply of water to other residents living in that area.

"Azersu" OJSC brings to the attention of citizens and subscribers that global climate change has led to the reduction of fresh water resources of our country and in such conditions, wasteful use of water is unacceptable. To prevent such illegal situations, measures will be continued regularly, arbitrarily drawn and off-meter lines will be canceled and those who repeat such situations will be referred to the law enforcement agencies.

It should be noted that within January-June 2022, 4,713 cases of illegal use of drinking water were detected by "Azersu" OJSC and 774 in Sabunchu region. In those cases, the consumption of 1,226,000 and 242,000 cubic meters was restored, respectively. In January-June of this year, more than 100 facts related to illegal use of water were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
