A meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada was held at “Azersu” OJSC.

Etibar Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC, said that the Japanese government and companies are closely involved in infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan and praised the role of the Japan International Cooperation Agency in the implementation of projects for the reconstruction of drinking and wastewater systems. Mammadov recalled that drinking and wastewater systems were reconstructed in Gusar, Khachmaz, Khizi, Gobustan and Naftalan within the Small Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Project co-financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency. He stressed the importance of efficient use of water resources, application of advanced technologies in the water sector, "smart city", "smart village" projects and other best practices in the liberated territories.

Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada spoke about the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Japan and expressed confidence that relations will continue to grow. J.Wada noted that the "Small Towns Water Supply and Sewerage Project" has been successfully implemented, contributing to the improvement of social welfare and living conditions of the population.

It was noted that the application of new technologies is important at a time when the efficient use of water resources is urgent and Japanese companies specializing in this field are ready to cooperate with “Azersu” OJSC.

The sides exchanged views on future cooperation in the field of drinking water supply and wastewater.
