A meeting with the representatives of the World Bank held at “Azersu” OJSC

A meeting with the members of the World Bank's Water Security Development Support Mission in Azerbaijan was held at “Azersu” OJSC. Kocharli Hasanov, Deputy Chairman of “Azersu” OJSC, said that the Society cooperates effectively with the World Bank. Thus, the reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in Shamakhi, Gabala, Saatli and Sabirabad was carried out within the "National Water Supply and Sanitation Services" project co-financed by the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank. According to the project, the construction of both drinking and waste water networks was completed in the cities of Shamakhi and Gabala and wastewater treatment plants had been commissioned in both cities. The implementation of drinking water projects in Saatli and Sabirabad was completed. Residents of these cities are provided with sustainable and quality drinking water. At the same time, the World Bank provided technical support for the establishment of the Training and Innovation Center.

The head of the World Bank's mission, Smitra Misra, noted that her organization provided technical and credit support to infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan. The World Bank representative said they were ready to support Azerbaijan in all issues related to the efficient use of water, improving the water supply of rural areas, treatment and reuse of wastewater and water security in general. She said that her organization pays special attention to the assessment of the current situation with water, water sector governance, institutional capacity and other issues.

It should be noted that the members of the mission visited the Jeyranbatan Ultrafiltration Water Treatment Plant Complex, where they got acquainted with the process of water treatment in accordance with the new technology
