In accordance with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s insstructions, “Azersu” OJSC continues to work on the restoration and reconstruction of water supply systems in the liberated territories. Urgent measures are being taken to supply water to the settlements in the liberated Sugovushan settlement and Talysh village of Tartar region.

According to the Coordination Headquarters established for the centralized settlement of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the work carried out in Sugovushan settlement and Talysh village is carried out as a matter of urgency and covers the supply of drinking water to settlements. Although sub-artesian wells were once drilled in both settlements, they were rendered unusable during the occupation and had not been exploited. Specialists of “Azersu” OJSC assessed the possibilities of these wells and decided to return them to operation. For this purpose, a new pump and generator will be installed in each of the sub-artesian wells in Sugovushan settlement and Talish village. A 3 km long transmission main is laid from the well to the settlements with polyethylene pipes of different diameters. The construction of a water line to Talish village has already been completed, work is nearing completion in Sugovushan settlement too. In general, 90 percent of the main water pipelines have been built.

Connections to the internal systems of the facilities will be provided from the newly built water lines. To ensure optimal water management, 8 valves, air and sub-drainage systems will be installed on the transmission mains. The construction and installation work is expected to be completed soon.

It should be noted that, “Azersu” OJSC carried out urgent work to restore drinking water supply in Shusha city, Hadrut district, Kalbajar, Lachin, Gubadli, Zangilan, Jabrayil and Fuzuli regions, at the same time organized uninterrupted service in those areas.
