“Azersu” OJSC has launched a new project to reconstruct the internal water supply systems of residential buildings in Sabail district. Within the project the upright log inside the buildings are removed and taken to the stairwells and each intra-neighborhood lines are being upgraded, thus shutting down nearby pumping stations.

The project, which aims to reconstruct the internal water supply systems of residential buildings and provide consumers with water meters, covers 32 apartment buildings built during the Soviet period in Sabail district and 2200 consumers. The internal water supply systems of these buildings have been installed in the pits of the buildings. In some cases, water leaks occur because the uprights have been in use for a long time. This causes apartments and basements to be flooded. In addition, the existing lines do not allow residents to have uninterrupted drinking water. At present, these buildings are provided with drinking water on a scheduled basis through local pumping stations. The presence of meters inside the apartments sometimes makes it difficult to read them on time, which creates problems for proper record keeping. According to the new project, 60 mm diameter metal pipes passing through the yards of buildings will be replaced with 110 mm diameter polyethylene pipes. These lines are connected to the entrance lines of the buildings. This ensures that water is supplied directly to the buildings from the distribution lines and the pipes passing through the basements are eliminated.

Removal of indoor water supply systems from the pits to the staircases and reconstruction of the local network will prevent future water flows to the basements of buildings, reduce water losses and improve the quality of service. At the same time, the installation of meters in each apartment and the removal of meters to the stairwells will lead to accurate accounting, timely collection of debts and the absence of receivables.

It should be noted that water supply systems inside the buildings have been transferred to the balance of “Azersu” OJSC since 2013, and in the past period, internal water supply systems of more than 6,000 residential buildings in the Absheron Peninsula and regions were reconstructed at the expense of state investments.
