Complex measures are being taken to eliminate the problems caused by heavy rains and the operation of sewerage systems. In accordance with the approved action plan, starting from August of this year, the main carrier sewer collectors and lines, observation wells and rain grates in Baku are being washed and cleaned of solid waste. Over the past period, 630 km of wastewater lines, more than 42,000 manholes and grates have been cleaned. The solid waste collected in sewage collectors, lines and rain grates collected after heavy rains is cleaned and washed again. It should be noted that, within the preparation for the autumn-winter season, “Azersu” OJSC is cleaning sewer systems, but during heavy rains, the existing systems are again filled with solid waste. Accumulation of solid waste in the lines complicates the operation of networks and collectors and significantly reduces their performance. In this regard, flood risk points have been identified in Sabail, Yasamal, Nasimi, Narimanov, Sabunchu and Binagadi districts of Baku, as well as in Sumgayit and Khirdalan.

Removal of collected solid waste is carried out by special equipment. With the help of special equipment, high-pressure water is injected into the collectors, the sediments are cleaned and removed by means of special device. Cleaning of collectors, lines and rain grates will lead to the full operation of the existing infrastructure. This prevents blockages in the lines and ensures the normal discharge of water generated during precipitation. In addition to collectors, small-diameter carrier wastewater lines and rain grates are regularly cleaned of solid household waste.

At the same time, the operational condition of sewage pumping stations is being checked again, mending works are being carried out at the required pumps and other hydraulic structures. It should be noted that this work is being carried out in the regions along with the Absheron Peninsula.
