Drinking water supply in Abbasgulular village of Goranboy region is improved

In accordance with the State Program on socio-economic development of the regions approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, projects are being implemented to improve the supply of drinking water to villages and settlements. The drinking water project implemented in Abbasgulular village of Goranboy region has been completed due to the internal resources of “Azersu” OJSC.

The ceremony of commissioning new water supply systems was held with the participation of “Azersu” OJSC Regional Sukanal Department No. 7, Goranboy District Executive Power and villagers. The event focused on the importance of projects implemented through public investment and internal resources to improve the supply of drinking water to the rural population.

It was noted that until 2017, there were no drinking water supply systems in Abbasgulular village. Residents had to carry water over long distances or by trucks. In accordance with the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on additional measures to improve the supply of drinking water to the population, in 2017, a drinking water project was implemented in Veyisli and Abbasgulular villages of Goranboy region, as well as Veyisli IDP settlement. As part of the project, 9 km of transmission main were laid from the Balligaya-Goranboy line to the villages. A 1.6 km long water distribution network has been established in Abbasgulular village and 8 springs have been installed for the population’s general use.

To further improve the drinking water supply of the village, a new project was implemented at the expense of the internal resources of “Azersu” OJSC at the request of residents. Within the framework of the project, a 4 km long centralized drinking water network was created and meters were installed in each of 116 houses. As a result of the project, about 500 residents of Abbasgulular village were provided with drinking water in a centralized manner. Thus, the rural population has been provided with sustainable drinking water, and their social and living conditions have been improved. At the same time, water losses were prevented, efficient and economical use of water was ensured.

Speaking at the event, the villagers thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the attention and care shown to the solution of the drinking water problem.
