Illegal use of drinking water was revealed in Sabunchu district

In accordance with the "Action Plan for 2020-2022 to ensure the efficient use of water resources" approved by President Ilham Aliyev, control measures are being taken to prevent water losses and waste. As a result of the investigation of special groups established by “Azersu” OJSC, cases of unregistered and off-meter drinking water use were revealed in the Sabunchu district of Baku.

During the investigation, it was found out that drinking water was used illegally in a greenhouse complex consisting of 96 units in Zabrat settlement of Sabunchu district. The owner of the greenhouse illegally drew water through a 100 mm diameter line by connecting it to the transmission main passing through the area and used it without registration.

It was revealed that water was used without a contract in the stone workshop in Kurdakhani settlement. It turned out that the entrepreneur used drinking water without obtaining technical specifications and installing a meter.

We once again urge citizens and entrepreneurs to refrain from such actions, and state that measures will be taken to prevent such violations, the lines drawn arbitrarily will be eliminated and law enforcement agencies will be contacted about those who repeat such acts.

It should be noted that in January-October 2021, 13,537 facts of illegal water supply were revealed in “Azersu” OJSC and 2,540 in Sabunchu district. According to these cases, consumption was restored in the amount of 3,887,000 and 797,000 cubic meters, respectively. During the first 10 months of this year, about 200 facts of illegal use of water were submitted to law enforcement agencies for investigation.
