June 5 is Water Economy and Amelioration Employees’ Day

June 5 is a professional holiday "Day of Water Economy and Amelioration Employees". By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed on May 14, 2014, June 5 was established as the "Day of Water Economy and Amelioration Employees" and this date is celebrated annually as a professional holiday of water management workers. In connection with the Water Economy and Amelioration Employees’ Day, the administration of “Azersu” OJSC and Amelioration and Water Management visited the Alley of Honors to commemorate national leader, architect and founder of modern independent state Heydar Aliyev and laid a wreath at his grave. Ophthalmologist- scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva’s memory was also honored. Afterwards the heroic sons of our Motherland who gave their lives in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan were commemorated at the Alley of Martyrs.

The administration of “Azersu” OJSC and Amelioration and Water Management OJSC also honored visited memorial corner in memory of Sijac Abishov, the operator of Azerbaijan Television and Maharram Ibrahimov, the correspondent of the Azerbaijan State News Agency, who were killed in a mine explosion on June 4 in Sususzlug village of Kalbajar region and paid tribute for their souls.
