According to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s special order, “Azersu” OJSC continues urgent measures to provide the liberated city of Shusha with sustainable drinking water. Alternative and sustainable drinking water supply of Shusha city was provided with water from Zarisli source after Small Kirs source.

In order to ensure the stability of the drinking water supply of Shusha and eliminate dependence on the Small Kirs source, the repair work on the Zarisli source and the Zarisli-Shusha transmission main had been completed and the city was supplied with water from a new source. Together with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Defense, security measures were taken to inspect the Zarisli spring and the transmission main along the Lachin-Shusha highway, located 11 km from Shusha, and emergency parts of the pipeline were identified.

The engineering and technical staff of “Azersu” OJSC sent from Baku and Jabrayil Sukanal Areas eliminated the accidents in a short period of time and replaced the damaged parts of the pipeline. At the same time, the repair and restoration work in 2 of 3 water intake facilities at the source had been realized, the productivity of the source was increased. The drinking water transported by the pipeline was transferred to the central reservoir and to the city network from there. A generator was installed in the reservoir, and a neutralization device using hypochlorite solution was put into operation. A new pump was also installed in the reservoir to supply water to areas above the reservoir. At the same time, a filling station was set up to transport water by vehicles if in case of necessity.

At present, damaged and out of order parts of the internal distribution water network of Shusha city are being repaired, water supply of the buildings and structures that do not receive water is being restored.

It should be noted that after the liberation of Shusha, the supply of drinking water to the city was completely stopped. When the enemy left the city, it destroyed the transmission main too. In order to solve the problem of drinking water, the drinking water supply of Dashalti village was initially restored and a water pumping station was established in Dashalti to temporarily supply Shusha with water by means of vehicles. Then, restoration work was carried out at the Small Kirs source and in the emergency sections of the 9.4 km long Small Kirs-Shusha transmission main and water was supplied to Shusha on November 25, 2020.

In order to operatively solve the problems in the sources, main pipelines and distribution networks in the city, the engineering and technical staff of "Azersu" OJSC and the emergency brigade organized a continuous service in Shusha city.
